Shelzy's Skip to the Store is based on the street where I grew up. We had a little store at the end of the block. Many times we would be out playing and the neighbors would ask us to go to the store with them. It was something so simple, but as I got older, I learned to appreciate the neighborhood and these special memories.

I am a mother of four boys. I am an author, educator, certified life coach, motivational speaker and I run the non-profit Nate's Story. After losing my oldest son, I began the nonprofit and heading school programs and community events to advocate for mental health. Writing has always been a passion of mine and through trauma and grief, I have used it to help others and now as a way to achieve my own personal growth.
